It's just amazing. I created this: fav.me/dw6zul

...and then a woman in Germany created this: miss-molly.com/images/logos/he… for her online shop. What a coincidence, no? So similar, and yet...

Gee, I sure would have said that's a rip-off, but no, wait--she tells me she has registered her work here:
register.dpma.de/DPMAregister/… Her logo is a registered trademark, she says to me!

So okay, I guess that makes it all right.

I haven't decided what I'll do, if anything. Folks, stuff like this makes me weary, as I know it does every one of you to whom this has happened. Much, much too distracting from things that really matter.

Of course, the best part is always how the guilty parties hasten to inform you that they paid someone else to do it, and that person swore it was original, and how on earth were they to know, and besides, it's not that similar to your art, really, and oh just go away, we want to be free to steal things from the internet in peace for god's sake.

Another glass of wine for me, please.

So...after a few emails back and forth, the art has been removed and rancor and ill will have pretty much evaporated, as is appropriate for the season. A relief!

Happy Happy Holidays to all, and the Best of Everything in the New Year!

Great to hear that every once in a great while, the ethics of Justice take on a slightly even keel.

"listening", Classic Windham Hill Seasonal perhaps?

Merry Xmas/Winters Solstice Chrissy, Mr Agrivaine .

By submitting it on DeviantArt, you automatically have your own copyright attached. I know it's a headache and a hassle, but I would pursue this legally.

Actually, I have decided to take action; we'll see how it goes.

And having the piece on dA, with copyright notice and the date of submission, is a big help.

Thanks for your comment. :)

whats more amazing is the brazen laziness of not even bothering to 'refine' it to look different (Line thickness, pose is exact)

Artist need to create a "Copyright Posse" to take care of these 'wrongdoer's'....

Yup  And then there's the way the hand with the pizza slice is cleverly tucked behind the logotype...ha ha.

I like the Copyright Posse idea... Let's do it!

Mmkay.. We need a logo/watermark stamped in LemonJuice, a secret handshake, be required to have at least a dozen rotten eggs, and we'll all wear a crocus on our lapels...

But seriously, unless 'global' graphic associations don't emphasize the ethics of these problems, this may be our only last resort...

Good Luck Chrissy. Keep us up to date.

It's probably not worth the headache. Yours is so much better anyway. Theirs is awful!

Agreed, Ben--that logo graphic is hideous. And thinking about it has already taken up too much of my time! But...it still pisses me off. :pissedoff:

It was a registered trademark AFTER you made it.

She stole it. You have the upper ground.

It might take way too much time and effort to pursue (though I might try contacting the trademark agency just on the off chance that I can get results that way.)
