Argh, I can't stand to see those Curmudgeonish Musings here one more second. Begone!
I've been so busy...which is good, after a really slow start this year. But I've fallen out of the habit of drawing, which is very bad.
Work has been coming in from my wonderful, loyal clients ; I started a new business (publishing a directory--out of my comfort zone but still, it should be interesting.)
I have a million ideas for art projects but I'm so weary by the end of the day I can't seem to do anything but sit and imagine cool things to create. Ahhhh well.
I sort of missed not being at Comic-Con this year...also didn't really miss it, since with just a little effort I can remember vivdly the sense that I really, really needed a break from it.
Anyway--hope all you cool kids out there watching me are enjoying your summer.

Just sneaking back in here to see...
...if this is still a place I want to be.
(Looks like one or two things have changed around here! It'll be interesting to look around again after a few years.)
It's been a long time...
I continue to make art, but it's sporadic (sadly.) Maybe that will change as I slide slowly into retirement.
However..! I'm on Tumblr, so if YOU are, consider following me! http://altese.tumblr.com
Another quote!
“Art suffers the moment other people start paying for it.”
Do you think that's true? Or not? Sometimes? All the time?
I really like this quote.
Don't think about making art, just get it done.
Let everyone else decide whether it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.
While they're deciding, make even more art.

It's when you DON'T realize that you haven't drawn that you should worry... (wait, when I think 'bout it ...aghhh!)
Yeah, I kinda miss it too. The premiere screenings with enthused audiences and panels, the cool toys and collectibles and displays. But lately, it's getting really..dense. A claustrophobes nightmare. Lotsa ppl shoulder to shoulder. And sensed ego's and attitudes akin to turf wars downstairs. But I think it's really the lively and enthused attendees and those who feel justifiably comfortable donning meticulous costumes that still make it shine. For those few days, yeah, you can be a Superhero, Villain or anything you want and get smiles, compliments and asked for posed photos. (Theyre gonna have to make the Convention Center larger just for Comic-Con!)
